Floor time

So one of the bigger obstacles to moving in is the state of the floors. Nothing in this place seems to be level, so here are some pics of Eric trying to remedy that. He used self leveling concrete that set up in only an hour or two.

We used laminate wood-like flooring for the entire main floor. Here are some shots of the progress...

And the kitchen is starting to come together, too!

This is the new pantry area. The cabinet to the right was the old pantry.

Shot of the floors all finished in the downstairs bath.

Up next, more progress on the painting and the kitchen. We've got to speed things up because move in is next weekend!

The demo begins

The demo began on day two, with Eric gutting the entire kitchen. We also decided to remove part of the wall separating the kitchen and the living area to open things up. That spot will eventually become an island/breakfast bar type area.

I didn't take pictures of this part, but I scraped off all of the popcorn ceiling from this little overhang (covering a vent).

There was a lot of old linoleum and carpet to pull up. I think we spent an entire day pulling carpet staples out of the concrete floor.

Carpet in the bathroom, too. And note the beautiful flower tiles and lime green counter top.

The cabinets hung around in the living room and one of the upstairs bedrooms for a few days, but were picked up by a local home goods resale shop last week--Bud's Warehouse. They took the counter and sink, too.

Next up, we start painting and laying the new floor. (We do actually have to move in at some point soon..)
